さらに新しい亀裂が開き、溶岩が流出し始めました。アイスランド気象庁（Icelandic Meteorological Office）のウェブサイトから引用します：
At midnight April 6. - 7. a new volcanic fissure opened about 420m NE of the first eruption site in Geldingadalir. This new fissure is therefore between the two currently erupting fissures. Lava from it flows towards Geldingadalir.4月6日から7日にかけての深夜、Geldingadalir（地図）の最初の噴火地点から北東に約 420mのところに新しい火山性の亀裂が開いた。この新しい亀裂は、したがって、すでに噴火している 2つの亀裂の間にある。この亀裂からの溶岩は Geldingadalir に向かって流れている。
