医療保険制度改革などの影響で支持率の低下が続く大統領ですが、学習の重要性をうったえ、学童を勇気づけるすばらしいスピーチだと思います。日本の為政者の中に、これだけの演説を説得力をもっておこなえる人がどれほどいるでしょうか。

中学生でも読みこなせるのではないかと思われる平易な英文です。ハリー･ポッターの作者 J･K･ローリングやマイケル･ジョーダンの苦労話なども取り入れられています。全体が読むに値しますが、特に気に入った部分を以下に引用します：

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don't know something, and to learn something new.
