この画像は、3月1日に火星探査車･パーシビアランスが撮影しました。露出時間3.28秒の写真を16枚撮影し、探査車上で合成した上で地球に送って来たものです。暗い条件下で撮影されたものなので、粒子が荒れ、画質はあまりよくありません。パーシビアランスは2021年2月に火星のジェゼロ･クレーターに着陸し、それ以来、探査および岩石の採集を続けています。採集した岩石は「サンプル･リターン」計画で地球に持ち帰ることになっていましたが、トランプ政権は予算教書でその予算をカットしてしまいました。議会がどのような結論を出すか注目されます：
